Clearing up the Air about the Cloud

Technology is constantly changing and it can be exhausting trying to keep up. Our home and work lives are becoming more mobile every day, so how is information storage advancing to meet the increasing demand? Information storage is switching to the cloud!

Cloud computing is a growing architecture which data centers everywhere are connecting. Due to the advances made with cloud computing, software-based programs will take on a new form, and internet-based applications will consume the everyday workplace.

There has been a lot of talk about cloud computing over the past few months, but many are still unsure of what that actually means; simply put, cloud computing is the on-demand sharing of resources, software, information and storage over the internet, or “cloud.”

Moving to the cloud offers obvious benefits such as reducing IT cost and providing more storage, but the move also offers:

  • More mobility, allowing employers to access information from anywhere;
  • Easier implementation, no longer requiring IT staff to run routine software and server updates; and
  • Infrastructure scalability, now making an increase in user load hassle-free.

If you’re interested in learning more about cloud computing, or you simply enjoy keeping up with the latest technology trend, the CIO Symposium may be the perfect Dallas Regional Chamber event for you.

Titled Defining the Cloud, the September 28 symposium will focus on defining cloud computing and how to strategize and implement the usage of the cloud within a business. Cloud computing expert, Chris Weitz, Consulting Director of Technology Strategy and Architecture for Deloitte Consulting LLP, will give the keynote presentation. The symposium will also include a case study to give attendees practical advice for those thinking about making the transition to the Cloud.

This event is sponsored by Deloitte and Capstone: The IT Consulting and Executive Search Company.

The CIO Symposium is an invitation-only program for IT executives featuring high-profile experts addressing issues impacting the industry and the technology role.  For more information on the CIO Symposium or to request an invitation visit www.DallasTBC.org or contact Kathryn McNeill at (214)712-1951 or kmcneill@dallaschamber.org.
