
Eight Dallas area companies will be honored at the Dallas Regional Chamber Momentum Awards to be held at The Fairmont Dallas on November 12, 2010. The Momentum Dallas Awards, featuring our International Business Achievement Award, are sponsored by Citi and Holmes Murphy Texas.
Awards will be presented in the following categories:
HMS, Inc. and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound received the Corporate Location Award. HMS relocated its corporate headquarters from New York to Irving, Texas. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound opened in April 2010 generating over 300 new jobs.
PegasusAblon Properties received the Community Investor Award for its Master Plan development efforts in the Dallas Design District, which resulted in 1,000 apartments, 20 new businesses, and private capital investment of $150 million.
The Real Estate Council and Frisco Square Development received the Community Catalyst Award. The Real Estate Council was instrumental in the development of the Woodall Rodgers Deck Park (now called The Park), a five-acre shared, public green space that will deck over the existing Woodall Rodgers Freeway. The Park is projected to create over $300 million in economic benefit for the region. BehringerHarvard developed Frisco Square, a 147 acre master planned, mixed-use development. Since breaking ground in 2003, Frisco Square has brought over 500 jobs to the regional.
Texas Instruments received the Workforce Catalyst Award for supporting the Dallas ISD’s Advanced Placement (AP) incentive program. Envisioned by education supporter Peter O’Donnell, Jr. and initiated by the O’Donnell Foundation in 1996, the program has given financial incentives to date to 9,926 students in 17 high schools who might otherwise not have taken Pre-AP and AP courses and passed more than 16,000 AP tests. Recently the TI Foundation announced a new three-year $1.5 million grant that will, along with continuing support from the O’Donnell Foundation and Dallas ISD, expand the program to all 32 Dallas high schools starting this school year and help pass a milestone of 10,000 students. In addition to supporting Dallas ISD, Texas Instruments recently opened its latest semiconductor manufacturing facility in Richardson, Texas. TI has invested in equipment and added about 250 manufacturing, engineering and administrative jobs to begin operations.
Tang Wind Energy Group Ltd received the Technology Catalyst Award. Tang signed a deal for $300 million to build wind farms in the US.
Fossil received the International Business Achievement Award. Fossil’s products are sold to department stores, specialty retail stores, and specialty watch and jewelry stores in the U.S., and in over 100 countries worldwide, through 23 company-owned foreign sales subsidiaries and a network of over 60 independent distributors.
Established in 2003, the Momentum Awards celebrate companies that have made a positive impact on the economy through job growth and location and expansion activities. The awards also honor companies that contribute to the vitality of the Dallas/Fort Worth region. Holmes Murphy Texas and Citi are the title sponsors of the event.
