Leadership Dallas Alumni Association Presented 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award to Patti Clapp, Former DRC Executive

Leadership Dallas Celebrates 35 Years of Leadership

The Leadership Dallas Alumni Association (LDA) named Patti Clapp, former vice president of education of the Dallas Regional Chamber as the Distinguished Alumni Award recipient of 2011.

Clapp began her tenure with the Chamber in 1987 as director of leadership development, leading the revitalization of the DRC’s Leadership Dallas, one of the most valuable leadership programs of its kind in the nation. A Leadership Dallas scholarship was formed in Clapp’s name honoring her work. In 1991 she was promoted to vice president of education, paving the way for Dallas ISD education reform and expanding department’s focus on public, as well as college and university, education advancement. Clapp recently retired from the Chamber.

In celebration of its 35th anniversary of leadership in the Dallas community, the organization also recognized Leadership Dallas Alumni heroes who personify the mission and spirit of Leadership Dallas.

“Since graduation, these alumni have served as catalysts and sustainers of positive change for the quality of life in the Greater Dallas area,” said Alan Wood, chairman of the board of the Leadership Dallas Alumni Association. “In conjunction with our 35th anniversary of Leadership Dallas at our annual luncheon, we thought there was no better way to recognize those who lead by example.”

Anderson ’89, Kenneth & Katy Menges ’90, Dale H. Long ’91, Michael L. Meadows ’92, Lydia Novakov ’93, Robert W. Jordan ’94, James F. Adams ’95, Retta Miller ’96, Robert J. Witte ’97, Arcilia Acosta ’98, Randall G. Ray ’99, Anne Motsenbocker ’00, Jan Pruitt ’01, Brent Brown ’02, Jim Griffin ’03, Torrence Robinson ’04, Fran Eichorst ’05, Lynn McBee ’06, Gary Hooker ’07, Holly Hassmann ’08, Michael Morath ’09, Peter Brodsky ’10 and Ignacio Herrera ’11.

The annual Leadership Luncheon, held at the Adolphus Hotel, featured Garrett Boone, the Chairman Emeritus and one of the founders of The Container Store, the nation’s leader of storage and organization products.

The mission of the LDAB is to educate the alumni of Leadership Dallas on significant issues facing the greater Dallas community and to encourage alumni to become active, engaged leaders in the community.
