Roll Call: Sarah Pendleton

By Penny Lynch, Communications Manager

I’d like to introduce one of the Chamber’s leaders at her best, from venue selections, catering, budget management and negotiations to leading the DRC top Leadership program. Sarah Pendleton is the true meaning of Leadership in action. Read why she’s excited about her new role.

Self

1. What’s your dream vacation?
My dream vacation would be anything outdoors and active! I’m not one to slow down, so anywhere and everywhere.

2. What’s your proudest moment?
Hmm this is a hard one. I’ve had several proud moments but I’d have to say my proudest moments are when people I love do good things for others. It gives you that warm, proud feeling when you realize you are surrounded by genuinely good people.

3. Are you excited about your new role in your department and why?
Extremely! My boss actually told me my excitement level for this new position could scare people away. But I know the 2013 Leadership Dallas class would never be scared away from anything!

Team

1. What would you consider to be the most important aspects of your team?
I will brag and be biased- I have the best team. We mesh together incredibly well. We are not only colleagues but friends. Let’s just say member engagement is a team bond to be reckoned with. I mean, we did send a Christmas team picture out to the rest of the chamber…

2. If asked, would your team say you’re a team player?
They better.

3. If Member Engagement was an event, what would you call it and why?
This is a great question, especially since I recently moved from the events position to my current position with Leadership Dallas. Our event name would probably be “Taking on anything and everything”. We’re sort of a melting pot of responsibilities with everyone stepping in and up for one another.

4. What is Member Engagement?
Member Engagement is the department mostly responsible for getting people involved in the Dallas Regional Chamber. We plan the events and leadership programs. If you’ve been to an event, you know Membership Engagement. If you’ve heard of Young Professionals or Leadership Dallas, you know Member Engagement. If you don’t know Member Engagement, you probably should.

DRC

1. If you were changing jobs tomorrow, what Chamber experience would you take with you (Good or Bad)
The best part of events, and I’m sure the best part of the upcoming Leadership Dallas class, are the people I meet. Only the best people are active in the chamber. I’d take the experience of getting to know the people.
