Guest Blog: UNT Celebrates its First Nationally Televised Football Game on ESPN 2

By: Langston Adair, Assistant Ticket Sales Manager, UNT

North Texas will be on the national stage on Tuesday, October 16, when the Mean Green hosts Louisiana-Lafayette at Apogee Stadium on the campus of the University of North Texas in Denton. The game will be televised on ESPN2, the first nationally-telecast game from Apogee. Game time is 8:00 p.m.

ESPN2 is giving significant coverage to a pivotal stretch in the Sun Belt Conference schedule, nationally televising league games on consecutive weeks.

The October 16 game pits North Texas against Louisiana-Lafayette, which a year ago went 9-4 and reached the New Orleans Bowl where they knocked off San Diego State, 32-30. The Cajuns are off to another hot start this year and are a contender for the Sun Belt championship.

ULL has the Sun Belt’s top-scoring offense, averaging 33 points a game, and is the league leader in turnover margin and tackles for loss. The Mean Green will be looking for revenge against the Cajuns after suffering a 30-10 loss in Lafayette a year ago.

The next week, ESPN2 will again feature the Sun Belt on Tuesday night, this time in Lafayette when the Cajuns host defending league champ Arkansas State.
