The DRC convened a community brainstorming session to discuss improving career readiness for high school students. Joining in the conversation were nearly 50 representatives from Dallas ISD, parents, Work Force Solutions, DCCCD, Dallas ISD trustees, non-profit organizations working with students, as well as industry representatives from a variety of companies including Microsoft, Southwest Airlines, Bank of America, TDIndustries, Capital One Bank, and representation for manufacturers. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss how to better equip students for the work force, regardless of whether they are going directly to college or immediately to work. The employers identified some specific gaps in work force readiness, and DRC and Dallas ISD captured the information to further explore curriculum and out of school time intervention strategies.
