YP/LDA Golf Classic Recap

By Julie Tanner, Director of Leadership

It was clear blue skies and perfect weather for golf at the 2012 Dallas Regional Chamber Golf Classic on Monday, October 29.  Brookhaven Country Club was the host to the annual event, which is the primary fundraiser for the Young Professionals and the holiday toy drive, benefitting the Salvation Army.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better day of weather for the tournament.  A day on the course was the perfect way for our members to say thank you to employees, clients, and referral sources” said Stephanie Braislin, event co-chair, Whitley Penn, LLP.

Prestige Maintenance USA, a premier provider of facilities maintenance and custodial services, partnered with the Dallas Regional Chamber and the Young Professionals organization as the presenting sponsor for the 2012 Golf Classic.  Gold sponsors included Ernst & Young LLP, New York Life and Southwest Office Systems; Silver Sponsors include Herman Miller, Inc., KPMG LLP, Quality Art House Consulting and Whitley Penn, LLP.  Lunch was provided by McAlister’s Deli and beverages provided by Boston Beer.  The event included contests on the course with packages to Pebble Beach and Hilton Head, SC and a new BMW 135i convertible. Silent auction items were also available, courtesy of Southwest Airlines and Virgin America.

The prestigious Chamber Cup went to the Whitley Penn/Clear Channel team of Maison Vasek, Chad Lancaster, Scott Sieck and Jake Smith.  The longest drive contest was won by Travis Farley and closest to the pin, Josephus Howard of Frost Bank.  The tournament raised nearly $20,000 that will be used to support leadership development programs.

Special thanks to the volunteers and golf committee that made the event a huge success!  Golf Chairs, Troy Ashby, Kforce Staffing and Stephanie Braislin, Whitley Penn, LLP; committee members Ericka Davis, Federal Reserve, Ian Michelich, Ernst & Young LLP, Elysa Nelson, Cooksey Communications, Rich Maus, New York Life, Kathryn Lyles, Meadows Collier; and event volunteer, Leslie Whitney, Time Warner Cable.

  1. Hey! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My site looks weird when browsing from my apple iphone. I’m trying to
find a template or plugin that might be able to fix this issue.

If you have any recommendations, please share. Appreciate it!
