Amb. Oberwetter Fears Negative Growth Impact Over the AA/US Airways Merger Challenge

By: Ambassador (r.) James C. Oberwetter, President & CEO, Dallas Regional Chamber

I am worried that the pro Texas growth policy, which has worked so well in this state’s favor, is taking a big hit with regards to the American and US Airways merger plan.  As we continue to work to promote economic development in our region, why would we not want the world’s largest airline headquartered in Texas, in addition to the headquarters of the fastest growing domestic, successful and competitive Southwest Airlines?

The Dallas Regional Chamber and the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce have sent a joint letter to Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott asking him to reconsider his position on the merger.  See our letter below.

  1. I’m not sure why but this web site is loading extremely slow for me.
Is anyone else having this problem or is it a problem on my end?

I’ll check back later and see if the problem still exists.
