Today, I had lunch with Lt. Governor David Dewhurst. No, it wasn’t a one-on-one session where we commented on the upcoming holiday season before discussing our concerns for water and education. We were joined by nearly 200 of our closest friends, but I think everyone who joined us for lunch at the Fairmont would agree it was still a productive and informative meeting.
During the event, Dallas Regional Chamber members heard a previewing the upcoming legislative session. Lt. Governor Dewhurst reminded thecrowd that the “Texas model” is working well for our state. Low taxes, a growing economy, and government that gets out of the way is all part of what makes our state the number one place to do business, said Governor Dewhurst. He did note, however, that even with all the things Texas has done right, we still have a lot of work to do. Continue reading
